AI agents are coming to Rivian's cars

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe said at TechCrunch Disrupt that Rivian's cars will eventually run AI agents from other companies like Anthropic. The company has built its own in-house agentic framework that routes voice requests to local edge models or the cloud, and as of May the agent could access external apps like Google Calendar. Scaringe gave no timeline, pointing to Rivian's December "AI & Autonomy Day," and said vehicle-level controls will not be handed to agents.
